What Is Trichorrhexis Nodosa? Do I Have It?

15 Oct 2007, by haircentre in Uncategorized

Answer: Trichorrhexis Nodosa can be a genetic weakness within the hair shaft or weakness and breakage due to weathering i.e. over use of heat during the drying process or manual trauma due to tension on the hair from tight ponytail clasps, rollers (particularly velcro) or smoothing irons. Ultra violet light, central heating and the wind can all exacerbate this further and the condition will become progressive without correct treatment.

I have been diagnosed with Trichorrhexis nodosa and I was just given a shampoo and some vitamins to take. The middle of my hair is bald although the hair seems to be growing back. I have not had a relaxer in about six months and would like to know if and when I can relax my hair again. I know now that I can not do it as often as i used to every six weeks but I will stretch it to about 10-12 weeks. Please respond and let me know if my hair will get better again.
