Hypothyroidism

The thyroid is a small gland located in the front of the neck just below the voice box. It plays an important role in regulating the body’s metabolism through the release of various hormones. Hypothyroidism is an underproduction of certain hormones and is the most common cause of patchy hair loss known as alopecia areata (which can affect the whole body and not just the head). Hypothyroidism itself is caused by birth abnormalities, autoimmune diseases or surgery involving the removal of the thyroid.

You will be seen by an experienced trichologist who will examine your hair and scalp closely, and check through your medical history thoroughly.
Once the diagnosis has been determined, if treatment is recommended, we will be able to provide you with the most effective and up-to-date trichological treatments for home use. (Delivery is by DPD to your front door at no extra charge).

The Hair Loss Centre’s New Video Consultation with our Consultant Trichologist gives us all of the information required to diagnose your hair loss problem immediately today.

We can recommend an effective course of treatments for home use straight away. These will be delivered to your front door with future video check-up appointments to monitor your progress and recovery.

The consultation process is very thorough and may take up to 1 hour. During the consultation all aspects of your hair and scalp problem will be discussed at length to determine the correct diagnosis of your particular condition.

The Consultant Trichologist will explain the nature of your disorder, give specific advice, answer all of your questions, and if you are indeed treatable, we will recommend a treatment regime, with advice on expected response and recovery time. We will write to your GP requesting certain blood tests for further investigation if necessary.

After this weeks’ Government announcements. I am going to continue with none face to face consultations and check-up appointments until further notice due to the Pandemic, when we will take another decision as to when we are opening the doors again.
