What Is Trichology?

16 Oct 2009, by haircentre in TRICHOLOGIST

Trichology Consultants
Trichology consultants deal with all problems relating to the hair and scalp. These include hair loss, hair thinning, hair breakage, scaling problems, excessive sebum production and itching. During a consultation, a trained trichology consultant will diagnose the cause of the hair or scalp problem and provide a treatment programme to improve the condition.

The Hair Centre of Trichology are Trichology Consultants offering a free hair loss diagnosis consultation. Call to book at a time convenient to you.

What to expect from a Trichology Consultation
During a Trichology consultation, your scalp is examined closely with high magnification technology called a Proscope and camera shots are taken for future reference and comparison.
One of our resident trichology consultants will ascertain the current state of your general health and well being and discuss with you any family history of hair loss and any medication you are currently taking. They will also ask you what hair care products you are currently using on your hair and scalp.

We will not contact your GP at any time, but may suggest you visit them if we feel that your hair loss problem requires medical attention. For example certain medications may contribute to your hair loss problem and in some cases your GP may be able to adjust your dosage to correct the problem.

After diagnosing the reasons for your hair loss, we will advise whether treatment can help. If we believe it can, then treatment can start immediately following the diagnosis.

What hair loss treatments are available?
Here at the The Hair Centre of Trichology we offer a range of male and female hair loss prevention treatments.

For hair loss treatment in males, we use natural based products to boost new growth, strengthen hair follicles and block the hormone DHT.

There are no side effects to any of the treatments we offer. Males will need to follow a course of treatment for a minimum of 6 to 12 months, especially where the hair loss is genetic.

Female hair loss can also be effectively treated with natural hair loss products. These include topical solutions that stabilise the hair root, strengthen and support the hair follicle and help the new hair to grow faster by stimulating blood flow to the scalp.
