How Much Hair Will I Lose?

09.08.2007 in Uncategorized

Question: Is there a normal amount of hair loss due to MPB or is it completely unpredictable? I am in my late 20s and would like to monitor my front hairline and calculate how bad it will get and whether I feel that I need to do something about it now before it is too late. I have been using Propecia for 6 months as directed, but I am shedding hair so fast I am afraid that I will be very bald before it stabilises. What can I do?

Answer: Hair loss prediction is difficult. The best thing to do is to have a look at your family history on both sides, look at the various forms of balding there and try to identify one person that matches the timing and pattern of your hair loss. Generally speaking, those people who will become very bald, show their thinning or balding pattern well before the age of 30. You are in the group where anything is possible, so look to your family patterns.

As far as Propecia is concerned it starts to become effective after about 9 months if it is going to work in your particular case.

Please note the side effects as there are alternatives such as Biostim available through your trichologist.

If the Propecia is not working for you seek advice from one of our trichologists, as there are always better combinations of treatments available, as combination theraphy is the most successful todate.

Hear are a few examples of some of the results we achieve:

Why Should I Use a Follicle Builder?

08.08.2007 in Uncategorized

Follicle Builder: Herbal based aqueous lotion applied topically to increase cell metabolism at the dermal papilla and increased nutrient flow to the hair root and growth matrix.

Mode of Action: Soy extracts have been shown to stimulate increased cell metabolism at the dermal papilla with increased hair cell production (Mytosis). A synergistic effect is achieved using phyto-active herbal extracts, which can increase the nutrient concentration at the growth centre of the hair bulb, augmented with multivitamins and trace elements. The anagen/telogen (A/T) ratio is increased with extended hair growth cycle.

Clinical Trials: Research data has shown increased hair cell metabolism and increased epidermal microcirculation with decreased hair loss and an improved A/T ratio with consequent improved cosmetic appearance and overall hair density.

Biostim – How Does It Work?

08.08.2007 in TRICHOLOGIST

Biostim: A combination of naturally occurring 5-reductase inhibitors with added multivitamin complex for the stimulation of hair follicles suppressed by the action of Androgens in cases of androgenic alopecia.

Mode of Action: 5-reductase inhibitors act as anti-androgens, reducing the levels of di-hydroxy testosterone (DHT), decreasing the levels of androgen activity at the target site. The consequent reduced levels of DHT stabilise or reduce the level of atrophy of the hair follicle and shaft in the genetically determined areas in the treatment of androgenic alopecia. The hair growth period (anagen) is prolonged and promotes increased hair growth and density.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials of the natural ingredients have established anti-androgen activity and the ability to suppress di-hydroxy testosterone (DHT) formation, beneficial in cases of androgenic alopecia. The increased dermal papilla activity increases hair cell production and proliferation, increases the number of hairs in the anagen phase and increases the A/T (anagen/telogen ration).

How Does Vitastim Work?

08.08.2007 in HAIR LOSS [ PHOTOS ] TREATED

Vitastim: Herbal based aqueous lotion with multivitamin system, applied topically to stimulate dormant hair follicles and accelerate hair growth in the treatment of androgenic alopecia.

Action: Hop extract contains phyto-oestrogens, naturally occurring oestrogens that inhibit the activity of the enzyme 5-µ reductase and reduce the proliferation of the potent metabolite di-hydroxy testosterone (DHT), which causes atrophy, and eventual loss of the hair follicle in genetically determined areas of the scalp. These phyto-oestrogens can also recover dormant hair follicles suppressed by androgen activity. The multivitamin system, particularly Vitamin H (Biotin) catalyse the process of conversion of amino acids into keratin hair cells and accelerates growth and diameter of the hair from the dermal papilla.

Clinical Trials: Considerable anecdotal evidence has supported the oestrogen like activity of hop extract and recent scientific research has confirmed that hop extract shows a potent acceleration on hair growth in cases of androgenic alopecia.
