What Is Alopecia Totalis? Do I Have It?

17.10.2007 in ALOPECIA AREATA, Uncategorized

Answer: Alopecia Totalis is recognized by the loss of all scalp hair. Most sufferers are children and young adults (below 40 years old), though it can affect people of all ages. It can also affect the sufferer’s nails, giving them a pitted, ridged or brittle appearance. The exact cause is still unknown, although current theories include an autoimmune disease, stress or suggest a genetic basis.

What Is Alopecia Areata? Do I Have It?

16.10.2007 in ALOPECIA AREATA, Uncategorized

Answer: Alopecia Areata is an extremely common condition and will affect 1% to 2% of the population at some point in their lives. Most sufferers are children and young adults (below 40 years old), though it can affect people of all ages. The hair loss is sudden and manifests itself in small, smooth-skinned patches that are likely to gradually widen with time. It can also affect the sufferer’s nails, giving them a pitted, ridged or brittle appearance. The exact cause is still unknown, although current theories include an auto-immune disease, stress or suggest a genetic basis.

My Story About My Alopecia Areata.

01.10.2007 in ALOPECIA AREATA, Uncategorized

At the beginning of this year I noticed a thinning of my hair and decided to visit my GP for some advice as to the problem. After several visits without success I asked to be referred to a trichologist for a second opinion. My GP said there was nothing he could do as it was a waste of time and money. After getting no further help from my GP I decided to get a second opinion for myself. I had heard about The Hair Centre on the radio and decided to go along for a consultation. I was diagnosed as suffering from Alopecia Areata and after speaking to a trichologist I felt much happier and relaxed knowing there was some treatment that could help me. At first I was a bit apprehensive and worried it was not going to work but after just 3 months of treatment I can see a very noticeable change of hair growth and the treatment has been very successful as it has stabilised the hair loss. I am currently using a maintenance shampoo recommended by The Hair Centre at home and I am very happy with the results and will continue to use it after the treatment has finished in three months’ time as it has put my hair in a much healthier condition.

ALOPECIA AREATA: IS IT TREATABLE? THE ANSWER IS YES. SEE OUR RESULTS AFTER JUST FEW MONTHS OF TREATMENT.

26.09.2007 in ALOPECIA AREATA, Uncategorized

Before coming to see us this patient had been down the usual non productive route of seeing his GP several times and then being referred on to a Dermatologist at his local NHS hospital. As with many Alopecia sufferers he felt frustrated with the lack of understanding, treatment and support being provided. After his initial consultation in February this year he decided to start treatment with us.

Here are his results:

This patient has undergone a combination of treatment using Minoxidil plus MPG and a 15% solution of Biostim (both treatments have been applied topically on a twice daily basis). These results have been achieved after just 6 months of regular treatments and check ups with this patient’s trichologist.

I am sure you will agree that the results speak for themselves.
